Thursday, November 6 is the 7th Annual Fiesta del Otoño
5:30-8:30 p.m. at Minnetonka High School
The Minnetonka School District invites the community to the seventh annual Fiesta del Otoño fall festival on Thursday, Nov.6, from 5:30-8:30 p.m., at the Minnetonka High School. Come and see the Spanish Immersion elementary students perform with their fiesta spirit!
This free event gives local teachers, community volunteers, and students the opportunity to showcase various Spanish traditions with live entertainment, music, food, crafts, and activities for the entire family. District elementary age students will be performing musical and dance numbers starting at 6:00 p.m. Food vendors including Aurelia’s of Eden Prairie and Teque Arepa of Eden Prairie will be selling authentic Mexican and Venezuelan food for sale on site. (Meals $3-$7 each. Cash only, please.)
The new featured regional and national entertainment this year is the Peruvian Folkloric Dance Group of Minnesota “As es mi Peru.” Founded in 2007, they perform traditional dances that represent different regions of the country, such as Marinera Norteña, Festejo, and the Valicha. Performing at various venues throughout Minnesota, they promote cultural awareness.
In addition to the Peruvian dance company, Xibaba will return to Minnetonka to give another amazing Brazilian jazz performance. Tom and Mira Kehoe and their band use a wide range of instruments and have performed at a variety of venues across Minnesota. Formerly, they have worked with the Guthrie Theater as a voice coach and performers.
This student-centered, family event is designed for elementary-aged children, middle school, high school, as well as children of every age. All Minnetonka residents and surrounding communities are encouraged to attend.
