According to Minnesota State law, children must attend school regularly. The only excused absences from school are for:
- Illness
- Religious holiday
- Death of a family member
- Vacations less than 5 days total (Prior Approval form must be filled out and turned in prior to absence in order for absence to be excused.)
If your child will be late or out of the day due to a medical appointment, illness, vacation, etc., call your child’s school’s attendance office as soon as possible. Attendance hotlines record 24 hours a day.
State the child’s name, teacher and reason for tardy or absence. Please include length of absence if known.
It is very important that if your child arrives late to school that he or she go to the office to check in and receive a pass.
Please always check in at the office if you are visiting school.
Taking a student on vacation? Avoid unexcused absence by completing Prior Approval form.
