 Advisory Councils


Parents, staff and community members' involvement on advisory councils in the school district provides and extended level of expertise and oversight for administrative functions in the school district. If you are interested in serving on an advisory council, e-mail the contact person below.

Finance Audit and Advisory Council, meets monthly to review district financial statements and provide advise to the Board and finance department regarding financial issues and emerging industry trends. Contact: Paul Bourgeois, Executive Director of Finance and Operations

Parents Special Education Advisory Council, meets monthly to review issues in special education and monitor special education legislative matters. Contact: Jan Bootsma, Director of Special Services

Minnetonka Community Education Services Advisory Council, meets monthly to make recommendations to enhance community education services. Contact: Tim Litfin, Executive Director of Community Education Services

PTO/PTA Leadership Council, meets monthly with the Superintendent of Schools to learn about and provide feedback on emerging district issues and coordinate efforts among common PTO/PTA activities and initiatives. Members of the Leadership Council serve in a liaison role between the district and its organized parent groups. Contact: Dennis Peterson, Superintendent of Schools

Student Advisory Councils, three different advisory groups (elementary, middle, and high school students) meet quarterly with the Superintendent of Schools to learn about and provide feedback on emerging district issues. Each group is chaired by a student member. Members of the Student Advisory Council are asked to bring student concerns to the Superintendent and serve in a liaison role between the district and students. Teaching and Learning Advisory Council, meets quarterly to review curriculum improvement processes and advise Board and administration on curriculum and instruction issues. Contact the webmaster for more information.
