 Parent Connections

We hope that it is easier to find information on our Special Education Website and that you will find the additional information for students and parents useful.

One very exciting change is called Parent Connections.  Often you want to know about a community sport opportunity or a great summer camp and cannot find the connection/recommendation you need to decide if it is a good fit for your child.  Before you invest your time, money, and mostly importantly, your child’s development, you want to know whether this activity is right for you and your child.  The Special Education Advisory Council (SEAC) wants to help in this endeavor.

But, to make this work, we need your input.  This is a parent driven resource.  You can seek information here, but you need to share it, too.  We will be offering a database of parent recommended activities that can help in your journey to find those most relevant to your child.

We hope that you will do the following:

  1. Share your good experiences
  2. Respond to email questions
  3. Respond to phone calls from parents seeking more information
    1. We’ve included our first entry so you can see how the information comes together
    2. Please complete the form and include your name and contact information so that families who are interested in the activity can email or call with follow-up questions.  Please share as much information as possible so that prospective parents can best assess the fit/relevance of a particular opportunity.

We only want positive recommendations; this is not the place for negative information.

You can email your completed form at anytime to Bobbe Sisler at Roberta.sisler@minnetonka.k12.mn.us.  We will update the information on a quarterly basis.

No idea is too big or too small.  For this to work, we need your input.  Experiences include therapists, doctors, camps, extra-curricular activities, job opportunities and who know what else!  We will   periodically remind you to send in recommendations.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Jan Bootsma at 952-401-5017.  We hope you will find this to be a valuable tool.
