2015 Minnetonka Homecoming Dance
The Minnetonka High School Homecoming dance is intended to be an occasion for all classes to gather in a semi-formal setting and to enjoy a social evening together. 
Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015
Minnetonka High School West Gym
9 - 11:30 p.m.
$10 per person
All ticket sales are final - No refunds will be given
Students may purchase tickets in the commons Sept. 14-18. The cost is $10 per person. You must have a ticket to enter the dance. Students in need of financial assistance should see Mary Beth Wiig in the Guidance Office. If the guest of a Minnetonka student has already graduated or is from a different high school, the MHS student must fill out a permission slip and have it signed by Principal Erickson by Sept. 17. Please note Mr. Erickson would like to meet your guest at the door prior to entering the dance.
Seniors will vote for royalty through a Google link this year. Seniors will be able to go online and vote for three king and three queen candidates during their second hour class on Thursday, Sept. 10. They will only be able to vote one time. The court will be announced during second hour on Friday, Sept. 11.
A formal photographer, Life Touch, will be at the dance to take photographs. Pictures are approximately $25. The exact price depends on the package purchased. There will be forms available at the student government room Sept. 14-18. Students should bring money to the dance if they wish to purchase pictures. Students will be able to pick the photographs up in the Student Union the following week.
To be admitted to the dance, students are required to abide by the law and not be under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Minnetonka Police are present at each dance to ensure student safety.
Other Information
The Homecoming Dance starts at 9 p.m., and ends at 11:30 p.m. Please have your rides scheduled to be picked up no later than 11:30 p.m. Tickets are sold in the Student Union for $10 per single and $20 per couple. These tickets must be purchased in advance and are non-refundable.
You may go "stag" (meaning alone, or with a group) or as a couple. Homecoming is a semi-formal dance, so please dress accordingly (suits and ties and dresses). Students must wear shoes at the dance so bring comfortable shoes (sandals, flip-flops, etc.).
Most groups or couples (usually couples and singles go together as a larger group) go to dinner before they go to the dance, while some groups have a good meal at home). If you are going to a restaurant, be sure to make your reservations early. Pictures should be taken before the group goes to dinner.
At the dance, make sure you have your tickets with you. There is a coat check available. It is best to leave anything of value at home or secured within your vehicle.

Homecoming Week Information:
Monday, Sept. 14:
  • Beginning on Monday, and running all week, there will be activities to raise money for Tackle Cancer, which will culminate at the Homecoming game on Friday, Sept. 18, at 7 p.m.
  • 2015 "Tame the Eagles" Homecoming shirts will be on sale in the Student Union. There is one displayed in the Student Government window. The price is $10. There will be 200 shirts sent to each middle school for purchase by the middle school students. They will be on sale at the school store Monday, Sept. 14 - Friday, Sept. 18.

Wednesday, Sept. 16:

  • Homecoming Court field trip to Feed my Starving Children. The Royalty Tea is from 3-4 p.m., in the cafeteria and parents, family members, and all staff are welcome!

Thursday, Sept. 17:

  • All students, grades 9-12, vote for Homecoming King and Queen during their second hour class on Google docs (vote only once). The results will be announced at the coronation during pep fest!

Friday, Sept. 18:

  • Pep Fest and Royalty Crowning: The pep fest and crowning starts at 1:55 p.m., in the West Gym. At the pep fest, the king and queen are crowned and the football team is sent off in preparation for their game.
    • Due to limited seating, parents of the court can view the pep fest in the West Gym. Parents of the Male Rettes can view the pep fest from the Black Box.
  • Homecoming Parade: The homecoming parade begins at 4 p.m., in downtown Excelsior. The parade route will commence at Lake and Water Streets and end in the parking lot of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church. The parade will last about 45 minutes. Meet and line up in the Excelsior Commons at 3:15 p.m.
    • If your organization would like to make a float, pick up and return the float registration form to Kayleigh Varnish in the main office by 10 a.m., on Friday, Sept. 18.
    • If you want to ride on a float, permission forms are due to your group advisor at the parade. The permission forms are on the wall across from the main office.
  • Football Game: Minnetonka vs. Eden Prairie at 7 p.m., at Einer Anderson Stadium.

Saturday, Sept. 19:

  • Powder Puff Game: 8 a.m., on the MHS football field. Senior women vs. Junior women in a game of flag football. Be there for warm ups by 7:45 a.m.! Women who purchased a shirt will receive them the week of Sept. 14. You must have a mouth guard and permission slip to play!
    • Permission forms are due to Terri Ellis at the game. The permission forms are on the wall across from the main office or by clicking here.
  • Homecoming Dance: 9-11:30 p.m., in the West Gym at MHS. Please make sure you have a ride available by 11:30 p.m., sharp.
