The consequences for absences vary depending on the frequency and type of absence. These consequences generally apply to absences that occur during a semester course.
Excused Absences

for combination of both unexcused/excused absences:
- Meeting with an assistant principal or designee with the student to sign an attendance contract expressing the understanding that upon the tenth excused/unexcused absence the student will receive a loss of credit* for the course
- A copy of the contract is sent to the parent(s)

for combination of both unexcused/excused absences:
- Students absent ten class periods from a credit course during one semester and who have been placed on an attendance contract prior to the tenth absence may receive no credit for the course
- Student will be dropped from the course and will have a loss of credit* for the course

*A student may appeal a loss of credit (LOC). The student will remain in the course until the decision is made.

The student must apply to be out of class if there will be any more than three school-authorized absences during a single quarter for the following particular types of school-authorized absences:
- field trips
- interscholastic meets and events
- student government and related activities
- verified meetings conducted with school personnel
