At MHS, we understand that there is a direct link between student leadership and positive school culture.  We believe strongly in developing student leaders to serve throughout the school.  The First Mate program is one designed specifically to give students the opportunity to lead the freshmen transition activities that occur throughout the year. 

First Mate leaders commit a great deal of time and energy to this program to make it a success.   They go through a series of training sessions to develop their leadership skills and prepare them for this important role.

The application process to select the 70 First Mate leaders for the  next school year begins late January – juniors interested in applying will receive information at school.
