 Minnetonka Middle School East PTA

Dear MME Parents,

Welcome to the 2012-13 school year at MME!

The MME PTA supports Minnetonka Middle East through volunteer and fundraising efforts, which in turn provide programs and funds that might otherwise not be available. Our success is due to all the parent support and dedication received year after year in our great community.

We will hold four MME PTA meetings this year, offering relevant and interesting parent education speakers at each meeting. We encourage you to attend as often as you can, it’s a great way to learn about important youth topics and keep up with what is happening at school, plus connect with other MME parents.

There are several volunteer opportunities for parents through the PTA, everything from a one-time commitment to a co-chair board position. Please take a look at the MME Volunteer Opportunities sheet and see if anything looks interesting or falls in your skill set.

To request more information about the MME PTA or to inquire about volunteer opportunities, please contact PTA presidents noted below.

Scott Washburn Assistant Director of the Augsburg College StepUP Program,  will be bringing a panel of Augsburg College StepUP students will interactively share and answer our questions on how they started with alcohol and substance abuse at an early age, what are the signals or behaviors to watch for and what parents can do to support their kids.

Join us January 28th at noon in the MME Media Center.  The Media Center door will be open.

Since 1997, the StepUP program has helped students in recovery from addiction to alcohol and other drugs learn similar lessons about themselves. To date, more than 400 students from across the nation have participated and have maintained over a 90% abstinence rate while in the program. They are successful in sobriety and in the classroom, earning a collective 3.2 GPA at Augsburg.
