All of these databases are available from school. Some of these databases require passwords for use at home. If you need a username and password in order to use a database from home, login to Blackboard. The information is posted on the Resources page in Blackboard.

ProQuest

Access to over 8000 magazines and newspapers from 1970 to present. Includes full text of articles from the StarTribune newspaper, 1990 to present.

World Book Encyclopedia Online has articles, pictures, and maps which can be downloaded and printed. One unique feature is a small library of statistical tables that provide visual illustrations of data.

Google searches an estimated 20 billion pages, with search results ranked by "popularity. Uses Boolean operators in "Advanced Search."

Google Uncle Sam

Search engine that searches United States Government sites only.

Ask

Searches an estimated 2 billion pages. Includes the old "Ask Jeeves" search engine. Allows question searching, for example "Why "Is the sky blue?" Uses Boolean operators in "Advanced Search."

Dogpile

Meta search engine searches Google, Yahoo,MSN, Ask. Uses Boolean operators in "Advanced Search."
