Minnetonka students continue to excel academically by scoring among the top districts in the state on the MCA-III. Overall, 80 percent of Minnetonka students are proficient in reading; 81 percent are proficient in math, and 79% are proficient in science according to the MCA test.

Capturing their fourth state championship this year, MHS girls repeated as State Champions in Track and Field. Senior Mia Barron set two new records in Long Jump and Triple Jump. Senior Liz Endy captured the title in the 800 meter run and the 4x800 relay along with teammates Meghan Borowski, Lucy Hoelsscher and Meghan Janssen.

The Minnetonka School Board has adopted a preliminary 2013 tax levy payable in 2014 of $36.9 million, a 4.84% increase over the 2012 tax levy. The increase is due to funding changes made during the 2013 State legislative session. The Board has a record of holding the line on property taxes. Today’s District property taxes are lower on a total dollar basis than they were 17 years ago.

Minnetonka School Board approved All-day Kindergarten as the basic kindergarten program beginning in Fall 2014. As a result of a change in state funding and state law, the all-day program will be available to all students without a fee.

The 2013 Multiple Measurement Ratings (MMR) data, based on spring 2013 Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment (MCA) scores, show all Minnetonka schools with ratings far above state expectations, despite technical difficulties. Minnetonka has three Title I Funding schools eligible for categorizing. Deephaven and Excelsior are Reward Schools (top 15%) and Clear Springs is a Celebration Eligible School (top 25%).

After appearing to set a new state record, relay teams were disqualified due to an administrative error. Contrary to other published reports, all Minnetonka swimmers were eligible athletes and no athlete competed in more than four events.
