Currently some grade levels at some of our Explorers sites are at capacity. Registrations are being accepted on a space available basis. After we receive your registration, Explorers Club staff will contact you and confirm your child's start date.
Explorers and Junior Explorers Club is flexible, high quality before- and after-school childcare for boys and girls, preschool age to grade 5. Sponsored through Minnetonka Community Education, Explorers and Junior Explorers has experienced, creative professionals providing individualized care throughout the school year, on non-school days and in the summer.
On school days, children spend time with friends working on art and science projects, doing homework, reading, playing games and participating in outdoor activities. Non-school days are filled with fun events and field trips. Our qualified staff ensures all activities are age-appropriate and provide a balance between structured and non-structured play.
Explorers and Junior Explorers are open from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. each weekday and require a minimum of two days of care. Flexible scheduling is available.
Explorers Club - Grades 1-5 and Extended Day Kindergarten
Explorers Club care is available as an extension of your child’s school day. Before- and after-school care for grades 1-5 and Extended Day Kindergarten is offered at each Minnetonka elementary school.

For families who are seeking care beyond school hours. Register for care before school, after school or both. Before school care includes a nutritious breakfast. After school care includes a healthful snack.
- Non-School Days
For families who are currently enrolled in the program when school is in session, but seek care on days when school is not in session.

For families seeking care over the summer months, when school is not in session.
Explorers Club - Half Day Kindergarten
Explorers Club care is available as an extension of your child’s school day. Care in the hours opposite a child's kindergarten class time is available to students in each Minnetonka elementary school. Actual care is provided at Minnetonka Community Education Center and Excelsior Elementary. Students from Clear Springs, Groveland and Scenic Heights Elementary are bused to the Minnetonka Community Education Center. Students from Minnewashta Elementary are bused to Excelsior Elementary.
Opposite Half Day Kindergarten
For families who are seeking a full-day experience only a few days a week or have children who are not ready for the structure of a full day of school, but who require childcare during non-kindergarten hours. Before- and/or after-school care can be added to this option. Before school care includes a nutritious breakfast. After school care includes a healthful snack.

Junior Explorers Club for Minnetonka Preschool - Ages 3-5
Combine high quality childcare with a world-class preschool. Staff accompany children between programs and ensure they are supervised at all times. Junior Explorers for Minnetonka Preschool is held at the Minnetonka Community Education Center, 4584 Vine Hill Road, Excelsior.
- After PM Preschool (3-6 p.m.)
After school care includes a healthful snack.
- Opposite Preschool (6:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. or 11:15 a.m.-6 p.m.)
Care opposite an afternoon preschool class includes breakfast. Care opposite a morning preschool class includes a snack. Parents may purchase a school lunch option in the fall or send a bag lunch with their child each day.

Junior Explorers Club - Ages 3-5
Junior Explorers Club is held at Minnetonka Community Education Center (Ages 3-5) and Excelsior Elementary (Ages 4-5).
